First day of preschool

Today is James' first day of preschool. I think he is handling it better then I am. I almost lost it on the way to my car after dropping him off. Maybe I will be a preschool mom drop out, only time will tell.

He was really excited to get his lunch bag ready with me this morning, even carried it to the front door signaling he was ready to go. It didn't matter that it was too early to leave, he was ready to get out of the house.

And here is my little guy looking cute. This face means, Mommy why do you look so sad.

Now I have 4 hours and all I can do is check the clock to see if it is time to go pick him up. I miss my little guy, but I bet he is having a good time. I never though I would be one to say this, but they really do grow up way to fast.

Addendum: James did very well at preschool. He ate lunch and even took a nap. He also did a craft of hand prints and was very happy during play time. And for extra measure, here is a video of him this afternoon.

Mommy Chronicles

One fun story about Lindsey and I...we used to play country music really loud. And by loud I mean so loud the entire row of townhouses could hear. And then we would line dance for hours. I still remember how exhausted I would be after all the dancing and laughing. Thanks for our beautiful new blog design Linds, here's to all our great memories together and to the many more to come!

Piano Lessons

Just recently James is becoming more and more interested in the piano. He loves to sit and play with the buttons for all the sounds, and we have a cool demo feature that will play songs in each sound. I think he looks so cute sitting at the piano, so I let him jump up whenever he wants. Check out my little musician!

Also, on an unrelated note we have been "nesting" and have some fun new pictures of our updates here.

Are you ready for some football?

This past weekend marked our first opportunity to watch some college football at our good friends house. I have a feeling John and James will be trecking over to Dan and Christine's house most Saturdays to join in the festivities. James was his usual energetic self and really enjoyed all the attention. He loved it when Katherine took some pictures of him. He would pose and wait to see the flash of the camera. She was so sweet to humor him, plus she takes great pictures!

When we would all cheer James would throw his hands in the air to cheer right along with us! He is a sports fan already!

Spoons and bathtime

James has a new tea set that his Nana gave him. He loves it! He and his cousin Abby played with a pink tea set at the beach this summer, and since then I have been wanting a little tea set for James. Well, he is a lucky boy and now the proud owner of a tea set. It is green, blue, yellow and red. There is not even a hint of pink, so it is perfect!

We were picking up our toys before bed one evening and two of the tea spoons had gone missing. The search by the adults had been futile, so Nana decided to go to the source. Nana asked, "James, where are your spoons?". He picked up the two remaining spoons off his tray and walked directly into the kitchen. Here he opened one of the drawers (note he can't see into the drawer because it is too high) and dropped his spoons in and closed the drawer. Upon further inspection of the drawer we found all four spoons. What a smart little guy!

Also on a side note James has decided that he hates bath time. He starts to cry the minute his feet touch the water, refuses to sit, and is really close to being able to climb out. Does anyone have any tricks to make bath time more fun?

Big boy

Today I had a ultrasound to check on Luke's progress. I am 33 weeks pregnant and am going to be the proud mama of a big healthy baby boy. Right now he is measuring in at around 5 pounds. Yes, I said 5 pounds. Wow! Everything appears to be functioning as it should at this point, and he has the cutest little toes. He really didn't want his picture taken, but we got a few glimpses of his sweet little face. None of the print out pictures were really worth posting, so you will just have to trust me on how cute he is. Apparently my babies are always big and very cute.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

New baby product

John came home this evening with some "important new baby information". I should have known better, but I blame my pregnancy brain for not picking up on the term "baby information". When he went up to give James his bath, he casually mentioned that he had printed out something that he thought I should read. Pleasantly surprised I went to retrieve said document, and this is what I found:

To read the full article go here. Beware, it is not for the faint of heart, although I must admit it made me chuckle.

We had it our way!

Today James had his 15 month check-up at his pediatrician's office. We love our pediatrician! James showed off his building skills and his ability to run around the office after a ball. He didn't feel the need to say anything during our visit, he also didn't want to point to any body parts when asked. So we didn't get to show off as much as we could have, but he still got a glowing review at his check-up.

Here are the stats:
Height: 33.5 inches (90%)
Weight: 25 pounds 13 ounces (75%)
Head Circumference: 19.25 inches (90%)

Attention: If you are a member of the food police, please don't read any further.

So on our way home James inevitably fell asleep so close to his nap time, so as usual I spun through a local drive through to procure James and I some lunch. Today I was hankering for a hamburger, so we had it our way at went to Burger King. James woke up when we got home, and was quite pleased when he realized he didn't have to wait for me to fix lunch. Look at that smile, I would do anything to see that smile!

He had a couple of bites of hamburger, but his favorite were the fries. I taught him how to dip them in ketchup and that was probably the coolest thing he had ever seen. He would dip the fry in ketchup and then suck it off, and then re-dip. He hasn't quite caught onto the "double dipping" concept, so be forewarned if you ever share condiments with him. He also really liked to play with my soda cup. By the time he got the cup it was empty, but he still enjoyed trying to drink from mommy's cup.

The whistle goes WOO WOO

James and I took John out to Burke Lake park to show him the lake and more importantly the train. It was a beautiful day and most of Fairfax county had the same idea we did. We actually waited in line to ride the train. We have never had to do that before! But it was well worth it. James likes the train more and more each time we go for a ride. He giggles when he feels the wind in his hair, and even got excited to go through the tunnel. He eyed the merry-go-round but is still not to sure about it. We also got up close and personal with some geese. James wanted very badly to pet one, but neither John or I thought that would be a very good idea.

Then to top off my Friday I went and got my hair cut. It feels so good to have it short and sassy. I was so inspired by Brianna's new haircut that I went shorter then I normally do, thanks for the inspiration Brianna!

Today we are off to Home Depot and maybe Bed Bath and Beyond if we have enough time. Have a great weekend! Woo Woo!

Playdate with baby Leah

Today James and I had our first playdate with the beautiful baby Leah. She really is one of the sweetest babies I have ever met - she takes after her mommy in so many ways! Leah is one very smart and very strong little girl. She is already holding up her head and trying to suck her thumb. I am so impressed by her!

James had a great time exploring her house while Leah took a few short naps. James was especially interested in her while she drank her bottle. I don't know if he wished he had a bottle, or if he liked her sweet noises she makes while she eats. Thanks for letting us play today Leah and Amy!

James was so exhausted after all the excitement of a real baby that he fell asleep on the way home. This gave me the perfect opportunity to grab some taco bell on the way home....it had been too long since my last fix. And for those who monitor my taco bell ordering I thought outside the box (or is it outside the bun) and ordered the nacho supreme and a mexican pizza. Oh I also tried the new caramel apple empanada and it was really yummy. What a great morning! Fun with our newest friend, a well rested James and a well fed mommy!
