Vacation Highlights

"What did you do at the beach James?" asked James' teacher. "I played with my cousins!" he exclaims. Yup, that about sums it up.

Some of Luke's highlights:
1. Blowing bubbles. This is the closest we could get him to the water, all with the distraction of bubbles.
2. Getting a purple cupcake just because he asked.
3. Collecting shells. (or demanding that Mommy finds him some shells)
4. Kissing and hugging our "new baby cousin".
5. Painting. He could do this for hours.
6. Throwing sand. Not my favorite activity.

James highlights:

1. "Toes in the sand". He must have said this 100 times.
2. Riding the boogie board with Daddy.
3. Hugging and kissing DEANO!
4. Pushing his dump truck all over the beach. Let's just say he slept really well on vacation.
5. Feeding and chasing the birds.
6. Climbing a tree. My little monkey in action.

Numbers and Fresh Produce

When we left for the beach our plants were just barely starting to grow....and two weeks later we have fresh produce.
1. Strawberries
2. Green tomatoes (not ripe yet)
3. Luke is shorter then those tomato plants
4. Mint, rosemary, cilantro, basil, fresh red lettuce, strawberries, azalea, white flowers and sunflowers
Not pictured: Mint and green peas

And finally a quick story to brag on my smartie pants James. While at the beach I was trying to keep the kiddos occupied before a meal and told James to write his numbers on a piece of paper. Totally expected to hear his usual number rhymes and for him to write 1-10. Nope, instead I got this:

Nope, totally didn't teach him to spell this word. He must have picked that one up on his own. I was so stunned I just stared at it. He also started writing his name but ran out of space. He loves to write words on top of words, which makes it a little hard to read. Silly guy!

What's New?

Nothing to noteworthy to blog about, so here are some pictures and a movie. Just for fun.

Picture 1: This is how I found James in his room during playtime. He was literally just dumping stuff everywhere and chanting "I am making a mess". Luke was right there with him trying to aid in the destruction.
Picture 2: These two boys are always hugging. Although a friendly hug usually turns into a wrestling match.
Picture 3: Luke's new catch phrase whenever he sees a camera.
Picture 4: James' favorite skill. He winks at anyone and everyone.

And a little, name that tune.....

And one more, if you have a really good ear. This one cracks me up because he is belting these songs out at full volume!

Happy Birthday James Morgan! We love you!

Zootime

Today I got to hang with my favorite guys at the zoo. After naps we all piled in the car and made a quick trip into the district to see the elephants, cows, lions and tigers. A perfect way to enjoy our lovely Sunday.
There is nothing better then being a mommy to my two boys, and I love every second. So today we celebrated by doing what we normally do on a Sunday, hang out and have fun.

Good and Bad

Here are some of my favorite pictures from April. These boys can be so cute. But to balance out all the cuteness, here are some interesting things they have been saying lately.

James: You suck!
Lovely, right? He learned this playing football with some big boys in the park. Luke also likes to say this, but he is currently substituting the "f" sound for the "s" sound...so it doesn't come out family friendly at all.

James: I think Luke lost his good attitude.
Me: Do you think he will find it?
James: I don't know.
Said while Luke is having a tantrum. It made me laugh out loud.

Luke: It's my turn!
James: No, look at my door it says J-A-M-E-S, not L-U-K-E. It's mine!
Luke: But why?
For some reason I found this exchange comical.

James: Oh Luke, I am so sad will you kiss my head.
Luke: Oh come here James. (kiss)

Ah, so sweet!

Photographing Preschoolers

Taking a picture of two preschoolers is really hard. James was much more interested in finding sticks and Luke would not let go of his "bribe".
"Hug your brother" - take 1.

"Hug your brother" - take 2.

Oh well, better luck for us next time!

Happy Easter

We celebrated Easter Sunday with some of our favorite people. The boys are becoming very good at finding eggs. Luke is even mastering the skill of opening, especially when he suspects chocolate treats are inside.

Jesus is risen, He is risen indeed!

Pre-Birthday Post

I have been reflecting back lately on my first born. My sweet James Morgan. I remember how painstakingly I prepared his nursery room. Spent hours thinking about making it just right. Anyone remember this nursery room? It was his for exactly 2 months before we moved and I don't think he ever even slept in that room. Baby boy liked the swing and I liked my sleep.

John and I were so excited to be parents. Look at our happy glow in this picture. Also, look at my large belly. This photo was taken in early March of 2007, James didn't arrive until mid-may. I think this picture explains why my body will never be the same. Good grief! I actually winced looking at this picture. Ha!

In May of 2007, the sweetest and loudest baby on the planet was born. I think he and I lived in a rocking chair for the first 4 months. Always snuggling and rocking. Snuggling has never been James' favorite activity, but neither was sleeping. He slept best rocking, so a rocking we would go.
Then he turned 1. That first year seemed so long at the time, but now what I wouldn't give to have another snuggle from that sweet baby boy.

Baby brother arrived in October and James was so angry with me. For 2 weeks he didn't want anything to do with me or his brother. But soon after the three of us would snuggle together. Luke truly was a baby who LOVED to be held.

Suddenly time flew by and James turned 2. Ready to be independent and feisty as ever!

I blinked and he was 3 and best friends with his little brother. Two little boys running around and stealing my heart.

Now we are approaching birthday #4. Where did the time go?

We love you James!
