So imagine this... it's a hot and humid summer afternoon. I was taking the dog and baby on a walk around the park. The park is empty, which is not surprising because it's noon and sweltering. Zion is running happily on the retractable leash, without a care in the world. Sweet baby boy is snoozing in his stroller. As we walk along the trail, I hear a noise from the trees... squawk, squawk.
We keep walking and the noise follows... squawk, squawk. Zion seems interested in finding the source of the strange noise and keeps glancing up. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I see the bird beginning to dive bomb us! Zion stands on his two hind legs as if to greet the bird. SQUAWK!!! The bird descends - aimed directly at Zion.
At this point I am ready to run for my life, as I am having a scary flashback to an Alfred Hitchcock movie. The birds are coming! The birds are coming!
Zion cowers as the bird grazes him with his wing (at least, I don't think he wounded him), and comes running to me for protection, looking as if he would hide under the stroller if he could. We all briskly walk as far away from the squawking bird as possible. Zion continues to look up as we walk away - as not to be surprised by future attackers. He is even scared of walking under trees now!
We manage to make it home with a sigh of relief. We're safe.... but not sure when we'll venture into the scary, scary park again.

I am surprised that brave Zion was scared by a bird since he chases every critter in the park that moves. I've even seen him try to go up a tree to catch a squirrel or bird.
I can almost feel your fear, as I was viciously attacked by a goose at the local park once. I will never return. I'm glad the three of you made it out of there alive.
POOR Zion! To think he could brutally attack a squirrel but be rampaged by a bird.
This reminds me of a similar bird incidence that occured in San Fran. When you tell this story in person do you re-enact the movement of the bird like that one?
