Sans Snacks

Yesterday was our first day (in a long time) with no snacks. The boys are becoming unruly at meal times and that means it is again time to say NO to snacks. This means that I am hearing a lot of extra whining, and even pleading about an hour before it is time to eat. Sometimes 2 hours before.

So I have to remind myself...

....that Luke looked so cute dressed playing at his kitchen.

And that they give the cutest smiles when I pull out the camera.

And that I even caught their "signature" looks this morning. Luke's is "Who me?", while James' twinkle in his eye means he is thinking up something silly.
And then while the boys are snarfing down their lunch, I sip a second cup of coffee out of my favorite tea cup. Enjoying the quiet bliss and really enjoying not feeding anyone except myself.
Behold, the amazing powers of "no snack" days.

Aaah, my favorite placemat of yours tucked under your pretty teacup. Wish we could join you for dinner again sometime soon!

PS. I remember begging my mom for a snack before mealtimes and she'd always respond, "Sure. You can have an apple." And somehow, an apple never really sounded that great. And her follow up was always, "Hmmmm. You must not really be very hungry then." Always made me mad, but it was pretty true!

haha, Emily, that is funny. My Mom did the same thing with the same effect. I love the picture of the signature looks - that is a classic. Mischievous boys and flowery tea-cups - perfect counter balances. Love you guys! Off to stir Morgan's latest Earl Grey/Vanilla ice cream... :o) Julia

I am not so sure that the apple trick would work with Luke...but maybe a carmel coated onion would work.

"oh a snack....why don't you have another carmel coated onion...? oh you must not be too hungry then"

maybe he would eat that too though....hmmm
