Run for the border

This morning James looked so tall in his pj's while he was playing in the front room. Look at his little pose for the camera! I think he is starting to enjoy having his picture taken, well, sometimes.
Yesterday James and I went to our church in the morning. I went to MOPs and James went to the nursery to play with his friends. He got a good report and was walking around playing with toys when I came to pick him up. Then, because he didn't nap at all until I picked him up at noon, he fell asleep on the way home. Because it is next to impossible to get James out of his car seat without waking him, I went through the Taco Bell drive through on the way home. I proceeded to drive home, park, and eat my lunch. Then just as I was finishing the Mexican pizza he woke up and was ready to go inside and greet puppy. This is becoming very routine for my MOPs meetings, and I am starting to look forward to my Taco Bell lunch every other week. Yum!

A walk to the park

Yesterday the whole family took a walk to the park. The weather was beautiful, the birds were singing and James had some new sandals. Life was good! I was so impressed that James walked so far all by himself! He did not want to be carried at all, and preferred to explore on his own. Zion, on the other hand, kept circling back to see what James was up to. A good time was had by all!

James' favorite girls
James was so lucky these past couple of days to spend some time with his favorite ladies! To find all the pictures of their adventures click here. My favorites are below.
James is always interested in what other people are eating. I couldn't tell if he snagged some of Katie's lunch, but they were cute standing there playing with the hamburger! In the end, Zion ate most of it once these two sweet kids were full.

Here is Katie hanging out in a basket. She was having the best time climbing in and out, and even cleared all the animals out of the basket to make more room for herself.
James and Katie play so nice together! Here they are sharing some blocks and having fun throwing them all over the room. I especially love James' very manly outfit and Katie's super cute girly one.
Madalyn is such a big girl! I love that when she sits she also crosses her ankles...what a lady! She also was counting, telling us all about colors, all while eating her apple slices. Talk about multi-tasking!

Spring and sippy cups
Spring arrived, and then retreated. Although it is expected back soon! We took advantage of the nice weather and did some planting in our front yard. James loved being outside and wandered all around while we planted. One of us was constantly chasing after him so he wouldn't go too far. Here are James and John getting ready to plant some flowers.

Also, James recently got a new straw sippy cup. It is the cutest sippy cup ever although I wasn't sure how long it would take him to learn how to sip through a straw. Well last night he made a break through and is now loving his new independence at controlling his water during meals. Previously he would hand the sippy cups (with handles) to me so I could assist him. Now, he needs no assistance and just pulls the cup to himself and takes a long drink.

I miss Daddy
The other day I was busy working on the computer, and to keep James happy I handed him the cordless phone. He smiled so big when I handed it to him, and immediately took off. I figured it was pretty harmless. A few minutes later the phone rang. I took the phone out of James' hand and answered it to find a very confused sounding John. The conversation went something like this:
John: Why did James just call me?
Paige: James just called you? How did James call you?
John: James definitely just called my cell phone, talked to me for 30 seconds and then hung up.
It is true, James did call John. Apparently he is the smartest little guy ever to memorize Daddy's cell phone number and dial all 10 digits on a telephone. Or maybe he got lucky and hit redial and it just happened to call Daddy. What do you think?

The Pink House
James got to spend some time with his favorite ladies today. Honestly, could these sweet girls be any cuter?
Here is James trying to join in on the action. Sweet Katie opened the door to play with James.

Wa-bam!
This past weekend we were visited by some of our oldest and dearest friends. They came as far as New York and California, you guys are the best! James loved all the attention and even skipped his naps on Sunday because he didn't want to miss any of the excitement.

We hung out, grilled, played tennis and watches some very interesting youtube videos. All in all it was a FANTASTIC weekend, and we have the pictures to prove it. Some highlights from this past weekend include:
*Introducing Californians to some good southern food.
*Playing tennis on Sunday afternoon. Negative points if you hit the baby, bonus points if you hit Zion.
*Michael's interesting youtube favorites....three words...bear on trampoline.
*Allison introducing us to our new catch phrase "Wa-bam!"
*Christina insisting that we order hush puppies, they were crazy delicious!
*Travis reading to James. James sat perfectly still to listen to Travis read his favorite book about playful puppies.
*James skipping his nap, and still being the happiest baby. This boy is amazing!
*John grilling really good fajitas for dinner Saturday night. Mmmm!
