James

Do you ever get the pictures off your camera and wonder where some of them came from? I do....who has been taking pictures of my ceiling fan?

Ha! Caught the culprit on film.....

James has been really cute with Luke lately. Just the other day we were at the grocery store and James insisted on getting out of the cart in the baby food aisle to pick out food for Luke. Then he wanted back in the cart after he made his selections. Funny thing was that he picked out all desserts. I guess Luke must have a sweet tooth just like his mommy.

James also is very interested in Luke's meal times. I try to feed all of us at the same time...even if it turns into utter chaos. There is just something about sharing a family meal that really appeals to me. James has started to gently remind me that no one likes a food pusher. This morning while I was trying to get Luke to take the last bite James said "Baby done!!!" over and over until I stopped trying to shove the fruit and oatmeal into Luke's mouth. It's like they have a secret language already...

Memorial Day

We spent our Memorial day with our good friends "Dan, Cstine, and kitty cat". We enjoyed great food, better company and a viewing of "A Bug's Life". James sat happily through most of the movie. In fact it was his first full length motion picture. He got a little scared towards the end, but then again so did I.

Included in the collage are a picture of him in his standard "fingers in the ear" pose, a bit of yummy cake and hanging out with his best bud Dan. Luke got to catch the last bit of the movie, he was too busy napping to catch the first half.

After the movie Christine and James had a giggle fest...

Thanks again Dan and Christine! You guys rock!

More Ducks!

Today we ventured out to the National Zoo. We can't believe that this is the first time we have visited since we moved to DC. Crazy! We had a great time and the boys really enjoyed all the sights. James especially liked seeing the ducks and kept asking to see more ducks! He also made good use of the water misters they had periodically along the path. It was a hot day and we all would run through to cool off. Luke didn't quite enjoy them as much as the rest of us.

James had the best seat for most of the exhibits!

Luke loved facing out and seeing the crowds and animals. He was a wiggly and giggly baby the entire time. He also had a great time sucking on some ice to cool off. I though his lips might turn blue they were so cold, but he kept asking for more.

The flamingos were one of James' favorites because you got really close to their cage.

Here I am with my little guys. The flamingo's have always been my personal favorite. Who do you think has longer legs...Luke or the flamingos?

Here we are at the last exhibit we made it to. James yelled TUR-TLE when he saw this big guy. But judging by his face in this picture I am glad we headed home after seeing the turtles.

We were all exhausted after our fun trip to the zoo! We can't wait to go again soon!

Watermelon!

Today it was really hot outside. I mean really hot. So hot that I felt I might start melting. The high today was eighty-something...it may be a long summer. So to stay cool during our errands we stopped by our local 7/11 and picked up some slurpees. Mmmm! James has graduated to getting his own super small slurpee, and he is so proud drinking his cherry slurpee. He even wanted to showed it to our neighbors when we got out of the car.

Luke became very agitated right after our 7/11 stop. I think he may have been a little jealous he didn't get his own slurpee. He was licking my cup and trying so hard to get to my straw. So we got Luke his own very special treat. Watermelon. He LOVED it.

First bite...hmmm this is interesting.

Yup, going back for seconds. He is a big fan!

What's that smell?

I ask myself that question multiple times a day. Being the mother of two in diapers and the owner of a stinky dogie, we have lots of unusual odors in this house. Today I was sniffing trying to figure out who needed a new diaper and James and I had a funny conversation.

Me: (sniffing)
James: Beeyon poo. (Translation: Baby pooped)
Me: Oh, Baby needs a new diaper?
James: (Shaking his head) No, Puppy.
Me: I don't think Puppy wears a diaper. Do you need a new diaper James?
James: No, no no no. Ma diaper. (He turns and runs into the kitchen)

I'll give you one guess as to who needed that new diaper... I guess our potty training days aren't as close as I thought. And now a few pictures for those who complain I am not blogging enough....

Here is James reclining on the couch after a big lunch. He has really learned how to relax...something I never though he would be able to do.

Luke doing a great job at his tummy time. He is mad that I moved his toy just out of reach, but is still trying very hard to get it.

During our game of dress-up Luke got to try on all the hats. The pirate hat is my favorite.

This is as close to the hats as James would get. Notice he climbed as high as he could onto the pile of pillows. Yet he was the one who told me which hat Luke needed to try on, and the one that asked to play hats. Silly boy!

James brought the swiffer mop into his room. To do this he had to drag it out from behind the trash can and up a flight of stairs. He only does this with toys that are his favorites. The mop even got a seat of honor next to him on his reading chair.

Party!

We had a little party to celebrate James' birthday. I am not sure what James liked more, the balloons or his lemon cupcakes. Thanks to all who came to celebrate with us, we had so much fun!

James showing me his balloons. He liked to remind me that balloons go "pop".

Daddy lighting his blue birthday candles with a torch. Now that's a manly way to light birthday candles!

James loving his cupcakes! He ate one large cupcake and two small ones and then kept asking for more. We decided that was enough, especially since he was too excited by all his friends coming over to eat dinner.

And lastly, a little video of James, Daddy and Zion trying to blow out the candles.

We love to eat!

That's right folks, my boys love to eat. Seriously, we have been waiting for this for a long time! All my posts about James and his very specific list of food that he would eat, and all my failed attempts to get him to like food. Well, he is now eating all sorts of food and loving it. Hooray!

Luke, on the other hand, has loved food from his first bite. In fact he is now eating three solid meals a day. And, he will even refuse his bottle so I will offer him some pureed goodness. It
shocks me every time, but it happens almost every day now.

Zion is very sad that James now finishes his food. Even worse is that he is coordinated enough that he doesn't drop food either. Poor Zion is getting skinnier I think.

A video from our lunch today. Both boys ate well and are now ready for some great napping! (I hope)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy Birthday Daddy! You give the best big hugs! James loves to ride up high on your shoulders and reach for the sky. And Luke loves the silly faces and songs you sing to him. You are the best Daddy in the whole world! We love you!

Love,
James and Luke

Today was also James' two year check up. He is doing very well and continues to grow and be a BIG boy. He didn't really want to talk to his pediatrician, but she was very impressed at his persistence to keep his fingers in his ears for the entire visit. That's talent! Hopefully a talent he will grow out of. =)

James' two year stats:
Height: 36 inches (88%)
Weight: 32 pounds (89%)
Head Circumference: 20 inches (94%)

Happy Birthday James!

Today James Morgan turns two. TWO?! I can't believe it. Wasn't it only yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital? How did it go by so fast?

James brings so much joy into our family and he continues to make us laugh, give big hugs and lots of tickles. He likes to eat all his food with ketchup and he loves ice cream with berries. His favorite word is "no" and his favorite thing to do is to "tikma" (tickle mommy).

We love you James!

Happy Birthday!

Pictures and an Outtake

Remember this picture from February?

Well look at us now! Isn't Luke making fantastic improvements! And James is getting happier when posed next to him. So exciting!

Also, I was cleaning out Luke's closet...again....and found the "coming home" outfits for John and I. Any guesses as to which outfit belongs to each of us? Hehe, I am just kidding. =)
And for good measure, here is a silly outtake from our failed "photo shoot" yesterday.

Hooray for Luke!

Luke's PT set some goals for us to accomplish in the first 8 weeks of our sessions. I think we are on session 5 and Luke has already crossed one of those goals off the list! He can now really hold his head up while lying flat for an extended period of time without help.

I am so proud of my sweet little guy! I almost did a happy dance in the therapy office when he really showed off. James even gave him a "clap clap" for doing such a good job.

Hooray for Luke!
